Family Dentistry and Examinations
Regular examinations are critical for children who will have new teeth coming in. Throughout their process of growing, Dr. Farr keeps inspecting the patient’s mouth for any potential problems. For example, dealing with impacted teeth or teeth that grow in crookedly is one part of being vigilant about the child’s dental health. Also, sometimes children have accidents – a tooth may be pushed back, knocked out, or loosened. Sometimes chipping can be a problem. Dr. Farr can consult on all of these situations in a specialized way – pediatric dentistry is one of our strengths!
Dr. Nicole Farr DMD is a caring children’s dentist. We will monitor your child’s teeth from first tooth, but our services aren’t just about cleaning and filling cavities. Dr. Farr and staff believes that being a responsible kids dentist also means educating parents and children on proper dental care that’s not office-visit related. Dr. Farr and staff will take the time to discuss proper eating habits which will prevent cavities. We strive to teach children and parents from Hancock Park/Los Angeles and the surrounding areas proper oral care.
Healthy Oral Care Tips for Children
- Consuming sugar, whether in fruit juices, soda or candy, weakens the enamel on your teeth. This weakening over time will give cavities the opportunity to grow.
- Eating grapes, raisins, cooked carrots and cooked spinach offer fluoride naturally and strengthen tooth enamel, helping to prevent cavities.
- Our kids dentist recommends these healthy eating practices and will show you the proper brushing and flossing technique to get the best results for a clean, healthy mouth.
- The American Dental Association recommends professionally applied fluoride treatments at 3 to 12 month intervals.
- As the growth of teeth progress, we will monitor your molars and, in many cases, recommend applying a special coating called sealants, so food doesn’t lodge and decay in between your back teeth causing cavities.
All these oral hygiene practices, along with regular check-ups, starting around the age of one, will ensure healthy teeth and gums throughout your life. Dr. Nicole Farr DMD wants to take those first steps in pediatric oral care, with you
